Proving Arson—Without a Smoking Gun - Fire destroys most of the evidence, seldom are there eye witnesses and unfortunately, clues may be destroyed by the mere effort of putting out the fire. Atty Tom Finn will explain the steps you can take to still prove arson cases. This informative session will provide excellent take aways and motivate you to take a stand against arson ~ Getting the word out in your community that you will not let an arsonist run free!

Role of the Fire Investigator - When do you call in a fire investigator? How much money should your Mutual invest in what appears to be an everyday fire? Knowing the role of the fire investigator will help you in determining the appropriate times to involve the experts. Zack Spykerman from Grinnell Investigations will lead this informative session and bring to light his objectives in investigations.

New Technology– New Changes - Farm equipment technology is changing at a rapid pace and there can be some high dollar “hidden” costs involved in a simple accident or fire. This session will provide you with new knowledge on the computer based systems that are now becoming the “norm” on all farms. (Underwriters will benefit from this session too)

The 4th “S” - Subrogating Farm Machinery Losses - Atty David Taylor will bring you valuable information regarding the ability to subrogate on farm machine losses. Many times, subrogation opportunities are overlooked and could save your mutual Thousands in claims each year. Wrapping up the program, David will share practical and legal viewpoints of this unique challenge.

Insurance Industry Legislative Day brings individuals from Illinois’ second largest industry together in Springfield to present our positions to legislators and constitutional officers and hear from them on critical industry issues. More than 400 insurance producers, company representatives, and financial planners are expected to attend to lobby members of the General Assembly on current issues affecting the insurance industry.

Registration cost is $35.00 if you register before Feb 1, 2012 ($45.00 after 2/1/12) rooms have been blocked at the hotel for $109.00 plus tax. IAMIC will offer scholarships to help defray cost to anyone who can not attend without the financial assistance. Please notify the IAMIC office for application. The day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with Registration and a Continental Breakfast and end by 4:00 p.m. to allow travel home. Meeting begins at 9:00 a.m.

Getting involved in the legislative process

and ensuring the success of your industry is imperative

and it is your responsibility.

You cannot and should not rely on the efforts of others to get the message out to our Congressmen and women about the mutual industry and our many concerns. Don’t just take responsibility for the success of your mutual; take time to get involved and make a difference in the industry as a whole.

The Congressional Contacts Program (CCP) is the avenue through which you can make this difference. By bringing members of our industry together with our elected officials, the Congressional Contacts Program is making a difference in our industry - our Congressmen and women are much better educated about the state of our industry and the needs that our companies and policyholders have. Our Capitol Contacts has been scheduled for April 25th & 26th in Washington, D.C. We will be staying at The Liasion Hotel and 18 rooms have been reserved for IAMIC members at a rate of $299.00/per night. Please register at your earliest convenience so that I can secure your room. You must secure your own plane reservations.

The tentative agenda is as follows:

26th 9:00 A.M. Visit to the Hill --- pre-arranged meeting with Representatives from the State of Illinois
