Underwriting Seminar Agenda

Endorsements...Limiting, Excluding, Defining Coverages & Implementing Forms
Policy construction is the key to ensuring that only acceptable exposures are covered. One of the most valuable underwriting tools available to help secure desired coverage is endorsements. This session will explore using endorsements that limit, exclude or add coverage to tailor a policy for each individual risk. Additionally, some of the issues around usage, attachment, and/or implementation of these useful tools will be discussed.

 Farm Equipment—Identification & Depreciation
One of the greatest challenges an underwriter can face is identifying the many different pieces of equipment used on today’s farms.  Proper identification can ensure that the policies are written to protect the interest of the insured as well as the company.  In this session, Tony Koehler, will use actual photo’s with key points that will help you in your daily work.

Re-Underwriting Renewal Business...Actions to take—How often and by Whom
Determining and evaluating the different options of inspections will allow your company to design a plan of action to keep your books up to date.   The quality of the inspections will insure you get exactly what you need to help underwrite the risk.  This class will discuss the effects your Mutual could face if you don’t update your reports.  Knowing the risk insures you rate the property appropriately and allows you adequately plan for the company’s future.

Methods Utilized in Evaluating Dwellings and Farm Structures
There are many factors to consider when figuring a cost estimator for dwelling or farm structures.  This class is designed specifically for underwriting these risks.  Identifying replacement cost  vs - actual cash value should be considered in each situation.  In addition, we will demonstrate the need to evaluate the different building methods and construction materials when determining the final cost.  A field inspection report can tell a story, do you know what you are looking for?  Our hands-on group underwriting outline will help identify the key elements you should watch for to rate them appropriately.
